From the main NARGS Forum menu, click on PROFILE, go to Modify Profile on the left and click on Forum Profile Information.
This is the primary screen for editing your NARGS Forum identity and personal information.
From the main NARGS Forum menu, click on PROFILE, go to Modify Profile on the left and click on Account Related Settings.
On this screen there are only a few bits of information of interest (see attached photo), typically this screen is rarely used.
From the main NARGS Forum menu, click the PROFILE option to see your personal profile information. Other registered Forumists can also can view your profile, but other internet users or non-forumists cannot see your profile, it is private and secured. You have control over many of the options and information contained in your profile. Explore the Modify Profile options to manage your personal information and forum experience; several FAQs will cover the most important options to consider.
The Personal Message system on the NARGS Forum is a little different than more full-featured email systems. On the NARGS Forum, there is simply an Inbox & Outbox, the Outbox is equivalent to a "Sentbox" or "Sent Mail" view.
When sending a message to another forumist, check the box "Save a copy in my outbox" to preserve a copy of the sent message in your Outbox (see photo 1). By default, this option is unchecked, and can be a nuisance to remember to check it each time a message is sent.
The NARGS Forum is a cumulative database of information that can be searched to quickly find information you are looking for. To use the Search function, do the following (see first photo):
1 On the main forum menu (upper left portion of the screen), click on the HOME button.
*(to search the entire forum, you need to be at the HOME starting point, where all subjects are listed)
2 On the upper right side of the screen, enter your search keywords in the Search field.
The search function is a great tool for users of the Forum. This helps users to quickly find topics/posts that contain the searched string of characters in the body of the topic. Unfortunately, the search function does not search the titles of attachments, including images.
A forum can be a great research tool and searching a forum can speed the discovery process. Please try to remember to place the name of your attachments within the body of posts.
As implied - for the admins but no data that would compromise the security of the forum/website if hacked by non administrators
If you use Internet Explorer 8, you may notice that longer topics have an irksome trait of 'jumping' around when your post is longer than the basic message window. There is a workaround.

On the NARGS Forum, when composing messages, text can be formatted to be bold, italicized, underlined, or marked with strikethrough, using the menu of buttons above the text window. It might also be advantageous to highlight text in a different color, to make it stand out from regular text, for example, when specifying the name of a plant. With the color scheme used on the NARGS Forum, certain colors of text show up well, whereas others colors appear too dark and will make text difficult for forum users to read, so are best avoided. Which colors are okay to use?
