An early morning call from a friend said, "The saxes are about peak".  I took my camera.  Here are images to brighten up a winter's day.

due to my poor care, I only grow the crustate "silver leaf" ones adequately.  I do like to see other people's successes, though.  These really do brighten a dull day!

Few of those wonderful saxifraga are available in Australiafrown

No chance of keeping saxifraga alive in our climate but friends in cooler areas of the Dandenongs and Melbourne do better with them. At our meeting yesterday one member, Jon, brought along a potted specimen of a silver saxifrage grown from cuttings or divisions from last year's "Cutting Swap/Workshop" which were provided by another member, Viv, who grew it from seed as Saxifraga x gaudinii

Jon's Saxifraga x gaudinii

Wow, those would surely be more than one year's growth if I grew them!

  -Very nice-
