NARGS ROCKS: Troughs Coast to Coast: Celebrating Gardens with Rock Plants in Containers, a Virtual Study Day. The North American Rock Garden Society [NARGS] will present Troughs Coast to Coast: Celebrating Gardens with Rock Plants in Containers, a virtual International Study Day, on November 14th A pleasant evening spent in the company of over 240 plant lovers! In about a week Elisabeth Zander will have the videos online on the NARGS site for those needing to catch-up. I noticed that many of the questions coming in from the audience were about the compost etc used for the troughs - this made me think that the practical aspects of trough making and growing were of particular interest to the audience - Many will be aware of Ian Young's work with building and planting troughs from his BulbLogs etc on SRGC.net ,so this may be useful : Jan Tholhuisjen is really good at sharing his experiences with making things for the garden to keep his plants happy - now he has turned his attention to something else helpful for all - Jan Tholhuijsen has made a great compilation of Ian Young's trough making articles - "With permission from Ian I have 5 blogs about the fish box troughs collected and put into an e-book. It is very interesting info, to see how to make this type of troughs and see the planted results. You can download the entire report in PDF.
