More rock garden irises!

Submitted by Lori S. on

I realize I am likely dragging many of you back in time with these photos... but that's what happens when we northern gardeners participate in these forums! ;D

So, into the time machine...
1, 2) Here's Iris taurica, in full bloom.
3, 4) And Iris attica, which came into bloom today, and seems to be getting it over with all in one go!

Iris reichenbachii, which I had in a trough out front for a few years, was never happy enough to bloom, and was dead this spring. :(
Iris timofejewii has a bud and will be in bloom soon - looks like only one, same as last year. Correction: 3 this year!
I wonder if Iris taochia, planted in '08, will finally decide to bloom this year?

I have never tried this one..looks very nice.  No bearded iris are even thinking about blooming around here.

After 3 days of snow (and to think, I've actually heard people say they like the climate here!!  :o), here's Iris lutescens var. campbellii:

As I said elsewhere: The pictures you bring of Irises haven't lessened my intention to expand my (rather small) collection of the genus!

Well, my collection is small too!
A couple more... and I think that's it!
1) Iris timofejewii
2) Iris chamaeiris (syn. lutescens)
