Montreal Crevice Garden
In 2002 Joseph Halda, in conjunction with the Quebec Alpine and Rock Garden Society, designed the "Jardin de crevasses" as the first installation of a crevice garden in a Quebec public garden. Now near the main entrance there is a small corner where an outcrop is stratified at 60°. They wanted more.
So in 2004 excavation began to landscape an area within the Montreal Botanic Garden for a new crevice garden. Thus began the rock crevice sand bed as installed by Zdeněk Zvolánek, planted with the assistance of Joyce Carruther, and later by members of the botanic garden. NARGS had provided grant monies to purchase some of the alpine plants with Lincoln Foster's favorite plants.
