Urbanite Outfitters Crevice Garden
Our version of the Czech alpine garden style mimicking natural stone uplift-formed crevices, was constructed with recycled material, known as urbanite. Broken concrete driveway slabs and foundation pieces were quarried onsite, and the crevices were filled with a pea gravel-like concrete block waste byproduct, PermaTill®. These soilless crevices provide a narrow but deep root run, and offer near perfect drainage and a pH above 8.0. This allows us to grow heat tolerant, alkaline-loving plants that normally wouldn't survive/thrive in our high moisture, hot climate. Construction by Jeremy Schmidt.
