Does anyone have a good photo of Primula x juliana 'Jay Jay'?
Hello, I've been asked by Jodie Mitchell of Barnhaven Primroses if there are any NARGS members who have good pictures of Primula x juliana 'Jay Jay' that they would be willing to share for publication. The Mitchells are writing a book on Primulas (The Plant-Lover's Guide to Primula) to be published in 2016 by Timber Press. They would like to include a picture of this variety, but don't grow it themselves.
If you are interested in sharing your pictures of 'Jay Jay', please write to Jodie Mitchell, [email protected].
Douglasias and how my mind works
To start off, some douglasias. Douglasia nivalis, which sometimes flowers as early as January here(but not in these pictures), in a trough, and then D. montana in a not-so-great year.
source of primula "copper kettle"
Several years ago, I and a friend purchased a uniquely colored primrose from Barry Glick of Sunshine farms and gardens in WVA. Called "copper kettle)", it really did look like burnt copper. Unfortunately, I lost my clump to a stinking groundhog and my friend lost his when he tried dividing it. When I tried to repurchase it, Glick informed me he had lost the strain due to a crop failure at his tissue culture supply !
Primulas for dry shade under trees?
My normal shade garden is full, but I would like to expand into the wooded area beside it. I am looking for plants that can be dry in late summer. Are there any primulas that can take dryer conditions?
