I love the colour of Campanula saxifraga! I'm really looking forward to seeing how these young plants "bulk up" in their third year!

Re: Royal purple
Lori, I am always looking for blue flowers to plant in my gardens (Yellow is the commonest color here). Bluebells are among the best I can grow and now you have opened my eyes to two more species I have to search for!
Re: Royal purple
We have C. saxifraga in the BG, but nothing as blue as yours! That is stunning. We don't have collina. Our deepest blue is the so-called C. tatrae...may be just a variety of rotundifolia but still, very deep compared to our other rotundifolia.
Re: Royal purple
Yes, I've seen colour variations to both C. saxifraga and C. collina. The C. saxifraga, grown a couple of years ago from seedex seed, compare favourably in colour to the gorgeous ones shown in Holubec's Caucasus book (which, BTW, is being advertised at a terrific price on the main forum site)!
Re: Royal purple
Great plants, Lori!
I also bought The Caucusus and its Flowers. I've hardly had chance to look at it, but even if it were only a picture book (not), the price is fantastic!
Another with rich purple colour... Campanula collina.
