Hi
Len Lehman Here
1. Does anyone have any suggestions as to some specific shade loving alpines that would be good to grow in shadw. We have a beautiful pot with a nice tufa stone in at our Nation aviary rock garden. Because it is in shade , we have had difficulty in growing things on it(semps, ferns(roots to big), saxifrages(too shady). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
2.Any suggestions for good fall blooming alpines for garden (we have several reblooming iris and
Cyclamen hedifolium but would like to add some dwarf fall blooming aster! Again Any suggestions?

Another fall bloomer,
Another fall bloomer, something I bought from Edelweiss Perennials this year is Solidago virgaurea ssp.alpestris var. minutissima. I never got them planted out of their pots, but here is one, pic taken 21 Sept.
You don't say where in the world the "Nation aviary" is?
Perhaps not in the tufa, but Ramonda and Herberlea spp. should do nicely. I don't think you will ever find Pellaea glabella grow to large. It will grow in tufa.
For fall blooming rock garden plants, a really snazzy aster is Aster ericoides 'Snow Flurries'.Six inches or less high with a spread of around 2+ft.
Colchicum x agrippinum finished bloom a week ago, and now C. speciosum is up.
Allium thumbergii and A. sacculiferum are blooming now.
A.t.'Ozawas' in full sun. A.sacculiferum in mostly shade.
