Narcissus 2016

Last month we had the first daffodil flower for the year! It is called 'First Stanza', a cross between Narcissus elegans and N. tazetta which we got from Lawrence Trevanion in Canberra

Another autumn flowering daff, Narcissus viridiflorus has started to bloom,

The winter-flowering hoop petticoat daffodils have started.

In our garden the white ones are always first; these are what I think are 'Nylon' but apparently that name has been supplanted by 'Nylon Group' as they are a bit variable

Lovely, Fermi.  Narcissus season here seems a distant memory.  Hot weather, then cold, then hot.  Poor plants don't know what season they're in!

...Claire

Glad you can enjoy the daffs vicariously, Claire.

More "hoops":

this is one of Lawrence Trevanion's from Canberra and is called 'Gefk' - apparently he has named a few after noises his children made as bablies!

Narcissus 'Gefk'

This is a "stray", not sure if it's a seedling or from a bulblet which was repotted with something else,

I've just repotted my "hoops", hoping they'll enjoy a nice rest over summer.  Yours are always so nice!

That's because I only show you the nice ones, Clairecheeky

Here's another nice one, 'Viristar' a cross from Lawrence Trevanion in Canberra, one of his N. viridiflorus hybrids, 'Hillstar' x 'Emerald Sea', it opens greenish with a lemon cup which fades to white-white,

Thanks, Harold, enjoying your summer pics as well!

Here are a couple of tazetta hybrids:

1) Taztep, from Lawrence Trevanion in Canberra

2) a 8 W-Y hybrid whose name was indecipherable on the bag on which I'd written it!

Hi Harold,

yes, I think most hybrids involving N. cyclamineus are pretty good and this one has a lovely form.

I got this one as Narcissus bertolinii but can't find any info on it,

Narcissus tazetta bertoloniNarcissus tazetta bertoloni

nevertheless it is quite sweet,
