Trilliums 2016

Forums:

Several trilliums (and pseudotrilliums) are coming into bloom.  They brighten our very soggy days -- since October 1, we've had rain 116 days out of 172 through today!

Pseudotrillium rivale (I'll never get used to that name!)

Trillium kurabayashii, seeding all over the garden

Trillium chloropetalum

Trillium hybrid 'Blondie'

Beautiful plants, Claire! The sole sign of trilliums here are the three single leaf seedlings of T chloropetalum var. giganteum that have emerged in the unheated greenhouse. I've tried to get a few others going from seed, but still no sign of T. albidum or Pseudotrillium rivale after two years. I'm thinking another three years might do it!

These are all just wonderful, Claire!

A few others coming up in the garden, but the only thing blooming now is Trillium nivale in the wild:

Trillium nivale is a trillium that I haven't been able to grow.  The slugs manage to find seedlings like they are honing in on radar.  They're so lovely, I'll have to try again, with more protection!
