I have a small section of shade garden with a couple of Ligularia in the back then some tirarella next and I have some space for something shorter in the front. I came across this genus of Anemonella, knowing nothing about them but their description sounds interesting. I would love to hear of your experiences with these plants. From my reading it seems they are long blooming but go dormant at some point in the summer?

Rick, you've done well with Anemonella, such floriferous clumps. I have trouble with them, because squirrels dig and eat the tubers which are so close to the surface.
In the garden, even the species type will go dormant eventually, but can be kept "alive" much longer, and flowering much longer in better conditions and more moisture. Many (most?) cultivars on the market are sterile and can be kept blooming for months with the right conditions. My Schoaff's Double is in half sun but in an area that dries out easily. It does go dormant but returns to bloom nicely (and still much longer than the species in the wild) every year.
