Unknown in borage family

I got this plant labeled as Eritrichium pectinatum, which is clearly wrong. The plant is 10" tall, slightly pubescent, with 3" lanceolate leaves.

Any ideas?

Hello Janet,

Looks like Cynoglossum officinale

Ah, Cynoglossum! I don't think it's C. officinale, which generally has dark purplish flowers, but it does look like C. amabile. Maggi, thanks for putting me on the right track!

I meant just to say it was some type of Cynoglosum, baesd on the seed head - must have written C. officinale  automatically - at least it was some use to you, Janet!

Cheers,

it certainly does resemble Cynoglossum but doesn't Cynoglossum amabile have big, coarse basal leaves?

It looks rather like Eritrichium canum... ?

Sorry Lori, just  now spotted your post above .

I think the clincher for me of a Cynoglossum is the seed head  - that quatrefoil shape, with little hooks/bristles is, I thought,  a diagnostic?

I'm sticking with Cynoglossum on this. An illustration of Eritrichium canum (http://www.efloras.org/object_page.aspx?object_id=93178&flora_id=5) shows the seeds forming a pyramid, whereas the seeds on my plant form a flat cluster.
