On March 28, I posted a photo of Ranunculus andersonii in peak flowering form. However, there were many other plants in flower that were beyond their peak flowering such as the one in the attached photograph. Our weather will be in the low to mid 60s for a few weeks with intermittent rain.
A friend and I had a great botanizing day yesterday and came across a Ranunculus andersonii in peak flower. This plant is probably shaded nearly 100% of the day since it grows on a slope with a overhanging conglomerate of clay and river cobble stone. Enjoy!
Does anyone have knowledge on how to bring plants back into USA from Europe (Czech Republic)? I just got notice that they will arrange shipping, and I just assumed it was NOT allowed. Any help is appreciated, ie permit-how to declare, bare-root etc, which plants would hold up better (I was hoping to bring saxes)? Thank you.

The Show season is well under way in the UK and now, when the Kent Show is held just down the road from us, is an especially good time with a marvellous mix of plants. So with apologies for some incredible plants that would be impossible in the garden, here are a few examples.
We brought this beauty in the house just before the weatherman said we were going to have a warm spell. When placed in the kitchen window and soaked up some warm sun (as opposed to "cosmetic" cold photons), she really took off and flowered within 10 days! And when the flowers were fully displayed, it was a thrill to see that she's ivory petaled with light blue bracts! Not the typical colors we get from the more commercial greenhouses here.
I'm looking for input on the planting medium to use in a crevice-y tufa garden. In my readings, I've found very different recommendations on soil mixes to use.
I'm starting with a berm, and the tufa form a ridge in the middle. I'm going to try to place the tufa pieces tight together, though given their irregular shape, the crevices between them will be fairly wide. My climate is relatively warm and humid (mid-Atlantic).
High Country Gardens (New Mexico) promises to be back, apparently bought by American Meadows. Worth checking out as they always have a few great plants that are not just for the mountain West.
Sale on, for rest of Feb. Quality in the past had been excellent.
