FAQ - Your Profile - 4. Changing the forum color Theme

Some users object to the light-text-on-dark-background color scheme used on the NARGS Forum. You can set a different color scheme if preferred. To inverse the color scheme to a dark-text-on-light-background theme, do the following:
1. From the main NARGS Forum menu, click on
PROFILE
, go to
Modify Profile
on the left and click on
Look and Layout Preferences
, a screen with many options appears. (photo 1)
2. Near the top the
Current Theme
is listed, typically it is set for
Forum or Board Default
, click on the "
change
" link just off to the right. A graphical list of Theme appears.
3. From the list of Themes, scroll to the bottom and select the
SMF Default Theme - Core
theme. Once selected, that color Theme becomes current and active. That's it. (photo 2)
---------
Notes:
a.
You can return to the standard NARGS Forum color theme by repeating the process, then select the
Forum or Board Default
theme.
b.
Using the light-background
SMF Default Theme - Core
theme, you will be among a small minority of forumists using that theme. Be aware that the majority of forumists are using the dark-background NARGS theme; they often highlight things like links and plant names in light colors such as yellow, pink, or beige that display well on the dark theme, but might be hard to see when a light-background is used.
c.
By choosing the
SMF Default Theme - Core
theme, or any theme other than the Forum or Board Default, you are using a prepackaged theme that comes with the forum software. As such, some positioning of items will be noticeably different.
