Can someone identify the plants in the attached image?  This was growing on vertical limestone on the approach to HogBack Mountain, east of Helena, Montana.  The plants were upwards of 3 feet across.  Amazing cliff-hugging adaptability.  No close-up, as I had to use a telephoto to pull in the plants.

I'd suggest your mystery plant may well be the famous Kelseya uniflora:
