This post is by way of thanking Todd Boland for mentioning an excellent place to find orchids near Seebe, Alberta (he was speaking at a CRAGS meeting here in Calgary). We visited it again yesterday and found 7 species of orchids plus numerous other wildflowers. I'll try to attach some photos.

Very nice, Linda! As I mentioned in another thread I've seen the native Cypripedium calceolus twice here in Norway!

Very nice, Linda! great to see yet another Albertan on here- we are almost (maybe actually) disproportionately represented!
I'll have to look up Seebe on the map, no idea where it is, though I assume its near Calgary?
There should be Cyps blooming near here, I have seen them on the road straight east of me, 8-10miles up the road, but I haven't been able to get up that way yet this year (I go by bicycle, and there is road construction that direction near my place) and sometimes see them in the ditches passing Sylvan Lake- but the highway there is much to hectic for stopping...
Is the other one in the photo Amerorchis? There used to be some on the farm here, but after that section of the bush was harvested for logs while I didn't live here, I have not found them again...
