Rosulate Violas?

Have any of you had experience growing rosulate viola species from seed? I noticed several species listed on the website (Viola cotyledon, V. fluehmannii {semi-rosulate?}, V. litoralis, V. rosulata, V. taltalensis, V. sp. #1551?, and possibly V. vulcanica, though following the details link takes you to a listing for V. congesta.)

I am sure that there are more than a few forumists interested in these plants after the rexent articles in the Quarterly, and it would be wonderful hearing from anyone who is, or has attempted to grow them.

I've germinated quite a few of these (although hve had lots of trouble thereafter) using the recipe of Stephanie Ferguson in her article in volume 69 (4) page 325 using giberellin (GA3) to aid germination. I think I had germination in 6 out of 10 batches last year although they were devastated by a plague of small snails during our very wet summer.

Good luck.

I have never tried them and now as I have seen where they prefere to grow I think I will never be able to grow any except maybe a few - with luck!

Viola cotyledon - maybe one of the easier?

Rogaland, Norway - with cool, often rainy summers  (29C max) and mild, often rainy winters (180 cm/year)!
