Plants appearing under this name in the nursery trade are often actually Trillium cuneatum which is a sessile trillium differs from the present species in its larger size and the anther connective extending only 0 - 0.5 mm. TRillium nivale ID: 1615 Categories: Trillium nivale is one of the smallest trilliums. Only T. hibbersonii may be smaller. T.nivale is the first pedicillate trillium to bloom. It is well named as usually blooms in March when there may still be snow on the ground which doesn't affect it at all.
