Gentiana andrewsii
ID: 369
Categories:

Gentiana andrewsii is one of the "bottle" gentians of eastern North America. The corolla is tightly pleated and expands as a bumble bee forces its way in for a meal then closes again as the bee leaves. They never open wide but they are usally well fertilized and produce good seed in the wild and in the garden.
