Arisaema triphyllum ssp pusillum
ID: 1714
Categories:

Arisaema triphyllum ssp pusillum This small subspecies of the common eastern North American Jack-in-the-pulpit prefers wet soil and blooms later than its larger coisin Arisaema triphyllum subspecies triphyllum. A.T. ssp pusillium is diploid while A.t ssp triphyllum it tetraploid. I almost never see any hybrids in the wild even when both subspecies are growing within a few feet of each other. See the NARGS wiki for more information. Photo taken in the wild in eastern Pennsylvania by Mike Slater
