Trillium rivale

Submitted by Gene Mirro on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 20:51

First year bloom on Trillium rivale:

Seed sown January 2007, germinated Spring 2008. To keep the voles out, I plunged the pot into the garden soil and mulched. The plants seem to do very well. They eventually grow roots through the drainage holes and into the surrounding soil.

The first Epi's are in flower here :D :D :D

E. x versicolor 'Cherry Tart'
E. x warleyense (I suspect this is E. x warleyense 'Orangekönigin', like the one on the next pic...but I'm not sure, so until I'm sure I'll keep it named as the pure hybrid)
E. x warleyense 'Orangekönigin'
and a very young plant of E. x youngianum 'Freckles' Cc. 950080 (2 last pics)

I have a pot of this lovely plant and I'm considering where to place it. I have plenty of woodland areas, but I also have some shady areas around the house, and a lot of borders along the 800 plus feet of stone wall.

Lysimachia lichiangensis

Apropos of nothing really, but sort of interesting...
From a quick google, it seems there are a staggering number of mislabelled photos/plants out there, that are claimed to be Lysimachia lichiangensis, but appear instead to be various yellow-flowered Lysimachia spp. (often L. punctata). :o (This, even from some nurseries! ???)
