Call for nominations for NARGS Awards
Peter George, Chair of the Awards Committee, is accepting nominations for NARGS Awards until April 15. These awards are to be given out at the Ann Arbor General Meeting on Saturday, May 9.
James L. Reveal
Botanist James L. Reveal died on January 9, 2015, age 73. At the time of his death he was honorary curator of the New York Botanical Garden, adjunct professor at Cornell University, and professor emeritus at the University of Maryland. During his career he published 543 papers on botany and plant taxonomy and collected more than 9,000 herbarium specimens from North America, Central America, and China.

John Bieber 1931-2014
On January 18, 2014 we lost John, a NARGS member for 44 years and expert grower and propagator of rock garden plants. For the last 30 years, he specialized in Daphnes. He was a Charter Member of NARGS- LI Chapter and served as its Chairman for many years and was the founder and president of the Daphne Society—leading it to international recognition. He lectured extensively in the Northeast and taught at local Arboreta In 2007, he earned the NARGS Award of Merit.
